Mixed Media & Collage
For Alexandra Benson, experimenting with different mediums is both a form of discovery and a joyful act of play. While she occasionally sketches out ideas, more often she dives straight into the process, allowing the materials to guide her. Whether she’s layering fabrics, blending colored pencils, or trying out a new technique, her most fulfilling work emerges through improvisation. Much like her quilting, Benson’s art thrives in the spontaneous moment, when an image unexpectedly takes shape or an idea sparks mid-creation. It’s in this intuitive space that her creativity feels most alive, unbound by rules and driven by curiosity.
