I don’t begin with a plan, I begin with a feeling.
I work in mixed media, blending textiles with drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage. My work spans abstract, figurative, and floral imagery, each piece a reflection of my inner world and the emotional landscapes I navigate daily. I rarely start with a plan. Often, I begin with text, free-flowing words scrawled onto the surface, which serve as both an emotional release and a foundation. From there, I allow the materials to guide me, responding intuitively to color, shape, and texture.
Creativity has always been a way for me to explore my thoughts and feelings, especially the ones I can’t articulate in words. Art helps me process anxiety, joy, grief, and discovery. In the studio, I can lose myself in the act of making, letting intuition take the lead. The process becomes meditative, a way to quiet the outside world and untangle what’s happening inside. I keep going until a sense of calm sets in. That’s usually when I know a piece is complete.
I’m deeply inspired by artists like Bisa Butler, Faith Ringgold, and Irene Roderick, women whose work merges narrative, fabric, and activism. Like them, I aim to tell stories through texture, color, and improvisation.
Ultimately, my work is about connection, between emotion and material, self and society, memory and presence. It’s how I make sense of the world and my place in it.
